Medical Cannabis: Sustainable Operating Model for Thailand
Hemp, scientifically known as cannabis sativa, is a botanical class of plants cultivated for industrial and medicinal use. Unlike its close relative marijuana, hemp contains lower levels of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which has psychoactive properties; hemp contains higher levels of Cannabidiol (CBD). There are varieties of medical-based products that can be made from hemp such as medicine, cosmetics, health supplements, food and beverage, as well as industrial products such as textiles, construction materials, bioplastics, paper and packaging, and biofuel and energy.
At present, hemp has been legalized since 2019 however the laws and regulations are still in a state of uncertainty. With its encompassing benefits to health, the environment, and commercial use, hemp can help stimulate our economy as well as the quality of life.
