SUPANEE SONCHAIWANICH

Born in Bangkok, cellist Supanee Sonchaiwanich is an accomplished performer and music educator whose career spans Thailand, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. She has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player, collaborating with distinguished musicians and performing across a wide range of musical settings.

Supanee graduated with First-Class Honours from the Bachelor of Music programme at the Royal College of Music, London, where she studied with renowned cellist Raphael Wallfisch and received the John Llewellyn Edwards Scholarship. She later completed a Master of Performance (Concert) with Distinction at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) in Zurich, studying with Orfeo Mandozzi. She also studied Baroque cello and jazz cello, reflecting her versatility across musical genres.

Among her notable achievements, Supanee served as Principal Cello of the RCM Philharmonic Orchestra in 2020 and 2021, following her appointment as Principal Cello of The Princess Galyani Vadhana Youth Orchestra in 2013. She has also performed with pop and jazz ensembles in Switzerland and France.

Now based in Bangkok, Supanee teaches cello at St Andrews International School. Passionate about music education, performance, and artistic collaboration, she continues to bring music to diverse audiences and contribute to Thailand’s vibrant musical community.

 

KANT LORMSOMBOON

Dr Kant Lormsomboon is an accomplished Thai pianist, conductor, music educator, and cultural practitioner whose career combines classical excellence with innovative approaches to music-making. A pupil of acclaimed Thai contemporary artist Nat Yontararak, he was the first Thai pianist to earn a Master’s degree in Piano Chamber Music and Song Interpretation from Mozarteum University Salzburg, studying under Prof. Imre Rohmann and Jean-Pierre Faber.

Kant has performed in more than 11 countries, appearing at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, and Konzerthaus Berlin. His international appearances also include major festivals such as Young Euro Classic Berlin, Festival Junger Künstler Bayreuth, and the Los Angeles International Music Festival. As a soloist, he has performed Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and Somtow Sucharitkul’s Queen Sirikit Piano Concerto.

As Co-founder and Music Director of the Arts & Nature Ensemble, Kant has pioneered a distinctive approach to classical performance, bringing music into natural and intimate settings through more than 60 productions, including the annual Mountain-Top Concert.

A dedicated educator, Kant has taught at international masterclasses and received an Outstanding Teacher Award. Through performance, education, and cultural initiatives, he continues to broaden the reach of classical music and contribute to Thailand’s vibrant musical landscape.
