Historical and local significance
The exact history of the temple is unclear, but there is a local legend that it was originally called Wat Bang Nai Krai, built in remembrance of Krai Thong, the crocodile slayer whose home was said to be in this area. A key feature within the temple is the old ordination hall (ubosot), a rectangular building measuring 7.50 meters in width and 16.30 meters in length. It faces east toward the canal. At the rear stands the base of the main Buddha image in meditation posture, lacquered and gilded, which serves as the principal sacred object of the hall.
Based on its architectural and artistic characteristics, the ubosot is believed to have been constructed in the late Ayutthaya period, and subsequently restored several times. Wat Bang Krainai was officially registered as a historic monument by the Fine Arts Department and announced in the Royal Gazette, Volume 118, Special Section 127 Ng, dated 21 December 2001.
The Suphanburi Regional Office of Fine Arts (Office 2) carried out a restoration of the ubosot in 2006. Later, in 2012, the office undertook another restoration project, which included raising and strengthening the structure while maintaining its original architectural form.

Threats details
The Buddha images in the old ordination hall shows signs of deterioration, including cracks and multiple areas where the gilded surface has fractured. In some places, the cracks reveal the underlying stucco core. The base of the pedestal also shows signs of moisture damage, particularly behind the principal Buddha image.
The walls of the old ordination hall exhibit swelling, cracking, and flaking, and the mural paintings have begun to peel away in several areas.
