Language barriers are an obstacle to implementing climate action policies that acknowledge the wisdom of underrepresented communities. Indigenous and underrepresented local communities are the first in line to suffer from climate change and extreme weather conditions. Their vulnerability to climate change makes it imperative for them to be at the heart of any discussion towards effective action. Therefore, this presentation seeks to highlight the necessity for an eco-linguistic approach in communicating climate action and preserving the local wisdom of vulnerable ethnolinguistic communities in Southeast Asia.
