What have you been doing all these years?” asked the tour organiser when I described to her the structure of the inner shaft of the Great Pyramid. I admitted that I had never been to Egypt, and all my knowledge about the Pyramid came from books. For all the details in my past research, nothing compares to the real thing. On The Siam Society study trip to Egypt “Temples and Tombs: The Glories of Ancient Egypt” during late February to early March, I went with great expectation of what I would see and came back even more impressed.

Along the way I recorded my experience in photographs, 3D panorama pictures and videos, sound clips and written notes. The intention was to gather as much material for my archaeology news radio program for the blind, but the result proved more versatile. In this presentation, I will show the trip using all of these materials, as well as readings from Percy Shelley's Ozymandias by Eileen Deeley, who, on this trip, recited this very poem for all of us at the Ramesseum in Luxor.
