Heritage Conservation and Preservation

All heritage places are composed of nature-culture that makes them identical and special to the people with their values. The culture embedded for generations contains the code or the DNA of the place, telling us the condition of the land and the nature of that heritage place.

Understanding your heritage place’s DNA will tell you the condition of the place, the meaning of your ancestor’s wisdom and knowledge, and how you can apply it in future actions to strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to possible change. Holistic conservation is needed to archive a sustainable direction for future development. The gap in consideration of nature, culture, and inclusion of people in the whole context for the conservation led to the decay of attributes and the loss of heritage, especially in Southeast Asia, which contains a deep connection between people, their culture, and nature.
