For more than 50 years, seaweed has been cultivated in the Southeast Asian region and has been a part of the culture of  various communities in the region. Chung Ngin Zhun founded Malaysian seaweed startup Rhodomaxx in 2019 to address the plastics and greenhouse gas (GHG) problem in the consumer and agriculture sectors through his seaweed project. His startup has been pioneering the production of seaweed-based vegan leather, bioplastics and mineral supplements.
