Goethe-Institut Thailand

International organisation

Vision :

As the official cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Goethe-Institut promotes cultural exchange, education, and social discourse. We support the teaching and learning of the German language and provide information worldwide about the cultural and social diversity of Germany and Europe.

Mission :

The Goethe-Institut Thailand, established in 1960 and situated on Soi Goethe in Sathorn, Bangkok, holds the distinction of being the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Its primary aim is to foster cultural collaboration between Thailand, Germany, and Europe through an array of initiatives including festivals, cultural events, exhibitions, productions, and artist exchanges spanning various artistic domains. At the heart of its operations is the Goethe Saal, a versatile auditorium that hosts a cultural program featuring a diverse range of activities and events. Complementing its cultural endeavors, the Goethe-Institut Thailand offers German language courses six days a week, available both online and onsite, with proficiency exams accessible at all levels. In close collaboration with Thai educational authorities, universities, and schools, the institute enriches the learning experience not only in its Bangkok classrooms but also within German teaching institutions throughout Thailand. Central to the institute's offerings is its in-house library, serving as a hub for learning, exchange, and collaboration. Boasting a rich collection of books in German, Thai, and English, with a predominant focus on arts, culture, and the humanities, the library also grants access to a wide array of films, board games, and VR sets. These endeavors are further strengthened by robust partnerships with libraries across Thailand.
