There is a wide-spread consensus that the first printed book in Thai was a catechism of the Catholic doctrine published in 1796 titled Kham Son Christang Phae Ton, with previous attempts to print books in the Thai language dating to approximately 1674. However, there also exists a short Thai sentence that was printed as early as 1646 by the Jesuits. This article discusses the details and history of this first printed Thai sentence.
