The Analytical Study of an Identity of Heritage on Cultural Wisdom in Lanna

The purposes of this research are that 1) to study the history and cultural wisdom development; 2) to analyze the identity of the cultural wisdom heritage in Lanna. It is a qualitative research and the tools are based on documentary study and field study by observation and in-depth Interview. Fourteen key informants are collected. The data analysis is conducted by collecting information contents of historical, identity, wisdom, and culture in Lanna from related research works in order to analyze an identity of the cultural heritage in Lanna.

The results of study found that 1) the history of cultural wisdom is due to the geographical factors which determine the ways of life in society with topography, ethnicity, and social survival. At the same time, the identity of the cultural wisdom heritage is a factor affected greatly by (1) faith: the practices for welfare; (2) social capital: the existence in traditional communities; and (3) conservation: the maintenance of the identity of wisdom by adhering to the principles; 2) the factors of the identity of cultural heritage in Lanna are as follows: (1) geography: living and ways of life; (2) faith: the conduct to achieve welfare with accepted rules; (3) social capital: a characteristics of an attraction due to the factor of social capital in area; and (4) conservation: care and maintenance of the identity of wisdom in Lanna Community in order to value in society forever. The new body of knowledge indicates that factors affected to the identity of cultural heritage in Lanna are that 1) geographic factors: it is the environment, race, and ways of life in the community; 2) belief factor: it is a traditional practice to create beauty in social patterns; 3) social capital: it is a natural resources, history, and beauty of arts; and 4) conservation: it is to preserve the beautiful things in community by following what the ancestors have created and to maintain the cultural values by inheriting local wisdom for the next generation.
