Siam-Portugal Relationship: Portuguese Heritage in Thailand

Portuguese was the first western nation, which came in contact with Siam. Portuguese developed friendly relations with Siam in 1511 AD. Relations between two nations had been in contact for trade, military service and demonstrating their religion. To give opportunity of seek for fortune according to their ability, agreed to guarantee religion freedom, built the holy church and the Siamese were ready to reciprocate with an open-mind, bring about emigration of Portuguese to settle down in Ayutthaya, to be evidence at the Portugal settlement in Ayutthaya. The settlement and the intercourse between Siam and Portugal had taking place in the form of pass thought the knowledge, technology and culture. The heritage had taken place since Ayutthaya period, such as the knowledge of geography, map, marine technology, weapon production, Inspiration to build fortress and city wall, architecture, the way of life and culture. The heritage in memory above was impression in the form of ancient remains, architecture characteristic, The way of life and culture of the present day.
