More than 300,000 birds of at least 350 species were sold each year during 1967-68-69 at the "'Sunday Market" in Bangkok. This represents a drain on the environment from the whole country and is an index of the sales going on in all cities. Only 17% of these species were exotics, the remainder were wild caught native species. Nineteen species of doves, parrots, bulbuls, wagtails, buntings, and weaver finches made up 78% of the sales. Recommendations for the management of this resource are given and the faunisticsof the collections are discussed.
