The Siam Society by Siamese Heritage Trust\u00a0organized an international conference held at the premises of the Siam Society in Bangkok and entitled \u201cHeritage Protection: The Asian Experience\u201d. The conference consisted of four panels entitled: \u00a0<\/p>\n

  • Heritage is the living present of the past<\/li>\n
  • People taking ownership of heritage<\/li>\n
  • How to put law to work on behalf of heritage protection?<\/li>\n
  • How can entrepreneurial energies complement heritage protection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The speakers and moderators were academics, civil society practitioners, and entrepreneurs, all involved in cultural heritage protection. All speakers were Asian, coming from 12 Asian nations: Japan, Korea, China, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Philippines, and Indonesia. The conference was well attended by an audience of approximately 200 people.<\/p>\n
