ห้องสมุดสยามสมาคมฯ มีกำหนดจัดกิจกรรม The Siam Society Literary Lounge เรื่อง “การเดินทางของช็อกโกแลต: จากจักรวรรดิสเปน สู่กรุงศรีอยุธยา” ในวันเสาร์ที่ 8 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 เวลา 14.00 – 16.00 น.

การเสวนาทางวิชาการโดย ดร. เปี่ยมศักดิ์ หงส์จำรัสศิลป์ ว่าด้วยประวัติศาสตร์การเดินทางทางของช็อกโกแลตในจักรวรรดิสเปนระหว่างคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 16 ถึง 18 และการส่งถ่ายวัฒนธรรมการบริโภคช็อกโกแลตจากทวีปอเมริกาของสเปน (Spanish Americas) ผ่านหมู่เกาะฟิลิปปินส์มายังอาณาจักรอยุธยา โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อเสนอให้เห็นบทบาทของจักรวรรดิสเปนที่มีต่อความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางด้านสังคมวัฒนธรรมของอาณาจักรอยุธยา และสะท้อนบทบาทของอยุธยาในฐานะเมืองท่าการค้านานาชาติที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับดินแดนต่าง ๆ ในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก เช่น หมู่เกาะฟิลิปปินส์และลาตินอเมริกา ผ่านการสืบค้นบันทึกการเดินทางและเอกสารประวัติศาสตร์ที่จัดเก็บอยู่ในหอจดหมายเหตุอินดีส (Archivo General de Indias) ประเทศสเปน และจากแหล่งอื่นๆ

We invite you to join us in The Siam Society Literary Lounge titled “Journey of Chocolate: from Spanish Empire to the Kingdom of Ayutthaya”, an academic talk given by Dr. Piemsak Hongjamrassilp about the journey of chocolate in the Spanish Empire from 16^th to 18^th centuries and the transmission of chocolate consumption culture from the Spanish Americas to the Kingdom of Ayutthaya via the Philippines. This academic talk aims to emphasize the role of the Spanish Empire in the socio-cultural changes of Ayutthaya and to reflect the latter´s role as entrepôt with links to political entities in Asia-Pacific regions, such as the Philippines and Latin America,  through the use of diaries and historical documents from the Archivo General de Indias (AGI), Spain, and other sources.
