On 16 January 2025, President Bilaibhan Sampatisiri, Ms Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Council Member, and Ms Kanitha Kasina-Ubol, Managing Director had the pleasure of welcoming HE Luiz de Albuquerque Veloso, Ambassador of Portugal to Thailand to The Siam Society.

President Bilaibhan presented the book “Five Hundred Years of Thai-Portuguese Relations: A Festschrift”  which The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage was invited by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs to produce a volume in English to mark the celebration in 2011. In the meeting, both sides discussed the possibility of working together between The Siam Society and the Embassy of Portugal such as co-organising study trips, exhibitions, lectures, or concerts.

The Embassy of of Portugal has been one of the most long standing members within our Ambassador’s Automatic Membership Program which the membership status can be passed on to the succeeding Ambassadors for the next 20 years. We truly cherish the contribution that the Embassy of of Portugal has made to The Siam Society and we hope to strengthen our collaborations with other embassies in Thailand as well.
