On 18 March 2026, The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage and the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) formalised their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at The Siam Society. The MoU was first signed in France by Mr Nicolas Fiévé, Director of the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO), and subsequently brought to Bangkok to be signed by Mrs Bilaibhan Sampatisiri, President of The Siam Society in Thailand.

The ceremony was graciously witnessed by H.E. Mr Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of France to Thailand, with Assoc. Prof. Dr Gregory Kourilsky, Head of the EFEO Center in Bangkok, representing EFEO at the ceremony, and was also attended by members of The Siam Society’s Council. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to the exchange and advancement of knowledge, fostering scholarly dialogue, and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage across the region and beyond.
