The purpose of the MOU is to foster and promote the knowledge and understanding amongst those in the news and media industry and relevant stakeholders on the protection of basic rights among children, women, the elderly, the disabled, the underprivileged, and those in the LGBT community in respect to responsible media content broadcasting.
The MOU also seeks to create a cooperation in establishing a watch network among stakeholders, particularly targeting the broadcasting of inappropriate contents, in accordance to the television content rating system established by the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission. Additionally, the MOU seeks to promote the involvement of the Thai general public in playing its part in the watch network as stipulated above.
