Visit by the Director of Japan Information Service
On Friday, 21 April 2023, Mrs Maki Kawamura, the Director of Japan Information Service, Embassy of Japan in Thailand, paid a visit to The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage and was welcomed by President Bilaibhan Sampatisiri, Ms Kanitha Kasina-Ubol and Ms Jarunee Khongswasdi.
As both organisations are similar in terms of the aim to promote the culture of Thailand and Japan, both parties aspire to build a cultural exchange and collaboration through a variety of events, with the goal of presenting the beauty and richness of Japanese and Thai cultures.
Mrs Bilaibhan and Mrs Kawamura also discussed a possible collaboration between the Embassy of Japan in Thailand and The Siam Society in terms of the effort to explore Southeast Asian cultural heritage as a source of guidelines, models, and tactics for successful, locally oriented climate action.
Since the Siam Society and SEACHA will join the Petra National Trust of Jordan in co-chairing the cultural agenda of COP 28, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which will be held this year in Dubai, we hope to gain more insight into Japan’s attempt to combat climate change and we truly look forward to our possible collaboration in the near future.
