Guidance for Speakers

The Society welcomes speakers to talk on subjects of a scholarly nature in conformity with the principles and objectives of the Siam Society, investigating the arts and sciences of Thailand and neighbouring countries.

Most lectures are held on Thursday evenings but they can be arranged on any Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.  Normally lectures begin at 19:00.  Following a brief introduction to the lecturer by a Society member, the lecture is usually 45 to 50 minutes followed by a question and answer session.  Attendance ranges between 25 and 100.  The Society has the normal audio/visual equipment on hand to accommodate the needs of the lecturer.

The Society arranges advanced publicity for the program from information supplied by the speaker.  The program announcement is normally in the range of 200 words with a related picture.  The speaker is also asked to supply a brief bio-data sketch of themself (background including current position, publications. etc.) to help the person who is selected to introduce the speaker.  Finally, if there is any material which is to be handed out to the people attending the lecture, the speaker is asked to please provide it to the Society at their earliest convenience.

If you would like to give a lecture please submit your proposal for consideration by the Lecture Committee to Khun Kanitha.
