Explore Urban Bangkok’s Birdlife: Suan Rot Fai

Following the success of last year’s birding programme in Benjakitti Park, organised in collaboration with the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand, the Natural History Section of The Siam Society is continuing its series of urban birding activities in Bangkok’s parks. This year, the programme will take place at Suan Rot Fai (Wachirabenchathat Park), one of Bangkok’s premier urban green spaces for birdwatching, where more than 220 bird species have been recorded over the years. These activities aim to provide members and non-members alike with opportunities to discover the remarkable diversity of birdlife in the city and learn more about the birds that share our urban environment.
The guided walking tour will be led by an experienced birding leader from the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand, the national partner of BirdLife International. Participants will have the opportunity to observe and identify various bird species in their natural habitats while learning about their characteristics, behaviour and habitats. The leader will introduce the birds by both their English and Thai names, making the experience informative and accessible to participants of all backgrounds.
Everyone is welcome, from those taking their first steps into birdwatching to more experienced birders. Whether you are simply curious about the birds around you or looking to expand your bird identification skills, this programme offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature and discover the fascinating birdlife found right in the heart of Bangkok.
