Preserving the Past, Envisioning the Future
Prior to the commencement of The Siam Society’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, you are invited to participate in a series of special activities that will offer a unique and engaging perspective on the Society’s ongoing conservation and renovation efforts.
At 17:30, Mr Euayporn Kerdchouay, Senior Consultant, will share insights into the meticulous restoration process of the Kamthieng House Museum, highlighting its significance as an architectural and ethnographic treasure of Lanna. This will be followed by a presentation from Dr Pornthum Thumwimol on the forward-looking vision for the Society’s grounds, including proposed landscape improvement plans aimed at making our premises more attractive, accessible, and welcoming to all those who visit.
The second part of the activity will be a guided behind-the-scenes tour of the renovation works on the Kamthieng House Museum, to be led by Mr Euayporn. This exclusive tour will allow participants to observe first-hand the exceptional quality of the carpentry and foundational improvements currently underway, and to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the museum’s role in preserving the spirit and traditions of northern Thailand.
The Kamthieng House Museum is an architectural and ethnographic gem that reflects the spirit and traditions of the Lanna people. By integrating architectural conservation with thoughtful enhancements to the Society’s grounds, we are aiming to create a warm and natural environment that invites curiosity, learning, and reflection for our members and visitors alike.
We also warmly welcome non-members who are interested in joining us in this activity.
