Tin That Built the City: Unseen Ranong
This creative tourism experience explores Ranong, a tin mining industrial city that has existed since the pre-industrial era. Travellers will immerse themselves in the city’s culture, cuisine, and traditional attire of the Baba-Nyonya heritage. The journey includes visits to globally recognised natural sites, such as Southeast Asia’s largest mangrove biosphere reserve, and a rare sighting of the endangered Water Onion (Crinum thaianum), which blooms in November.
The Siam Society, under the leadership of Dr Rungsima Kullapat, warmly invites you to explore Ranong and learn about various mining techniques from local communities, as well as experience the legacy of Chinese and European miners.
