“HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Textile Collection : Symbols of Love and Respect”

On Monday, 29 August 2022, The Siam Society Under Royal Patronage received the highest honour to be granted the auspicious presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at a book launch and special lecture by Dr Susan Conway, a Research Associate at the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University and a specialist on Southeast Asian textiles.
“HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Textile Collection : Symbols of Love and Respect” showcases a unique, comprehensive and diverse collection of textiles from all of Thailand’s seventy-seven provinces, which were presented to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn by individuals, government officials, and organisations as symbols of love and respect.
It was published as a tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s sixty-fifth birthday anniversary and contains practical information on weaving, embroidering and dyeing techniques. Each piece of textile presented in the book also serves as a reflection of the weaving culture unique to each province.
